Putting the pipes on is still the hardest thing but not as bad as it used to be. Each header is a single pipe, and they require a sequence of assembly. They gang underneath and the collector is 4 female tubes slipping on to the headers. A rubber mallet helps in the final set.

I should got down on the floor for a pic. Oh well, this is it from above.

With any luck it starts on Sunday. Christmas Present if it does!   :D

be sure to film its first start so we can all cheer and drink beer and throw bottles against the wall and cause a riot and stuff like that, ya know. 8)

That is going to be one sweet ride.

Yeah, but you gotta say the full name: "Marshall Deeptone". That's what it says on the nameplate on the muffler.   :D

Gotta make a list: oil; gas (either umbilical or regular tank)... Clear out the shop for fire prep, just in case, don't want to be wedged in a crowded shop if the worst happens, ... then start.

The A N T I C I P A T I O N grows  :)

After the first time don't be freaking out when it first puffs a little smoke.  ;) That's to be expected on a new engine. Mine is on the bench. Just did the cam and lash. Not far behind. I'll be watching on Sunday. What's your weather forecast?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

60 high, 20 low, chance of rain. But perfect for test start. I won't be too upset with some puffs. I have a good recollection of what it was doing before, and it was a constant stream of too much smoke.

Yeah, longer than that actually but that's when I started the thread on the forum. Slow and steady. Me and build buddy Bruce been tinkering with it for about 3 hours a week, every Sunday, missing only a few over the years.

Many a tribulation. Time chewing set backs. Many things to accomplish the "theme" just chewed up time. We have "touched" modified or replaced every single bit on it. Saying that, one can toss a part at me and I'll tell you what we did to it. Sure someone will find some THING, but try for fun. Some have tried but gave up. I'm real good friends with Yamiya and Brown's plating among others.   :D

All the changes may not have been executed well, or necessary, or even helpful. But, we tried.

I've owned it since 1974 and put boucou miles on it in different looks, till it finally gave up in 1995. I didn't start throwing money at it again until 2000, then stalled again, then 2008.

This will likely be the swan song, my legacy, as my riding days may be over. But we'll see. It will be finished anyway.

Yes, that's why I mentioned video.  You could use a motor drive camera (frame/second?); we can print them out to make a 'flip book', and add our own sound effects. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes it runs! And no smoke! Not even at start up. Some slight black puffs from a touch overchoked perhaps. Pics and video to follow if I can figure out how to . Smooth, tickety tick. Thanks to build buddy Bruce and newcomer spectator Ed. And to Mike for this round of the resurrection.   ;D   ;D

Old guys playing with a smart phone. My downloading of Ed's Video was somehow botched.  Missing from the video is the throttle response, and sub-1000rpm idle. Blips to 5000 dislodged no smoke, or hesitation. Oil pressure gauge jumped to full (60-70lb) immediately. Took a little longer than I remembered for the exhaust tappets to spit out some oil, but they did.  Oh yeah, did I mention, no smoke?

Very happy.

PS: Thanks to respondents good wishes.

Here's the set up with umbilical tank.

There are many details to wrap up, but a test ride should be as soon as weather permtis. Here's a tease till then

We all agreed the Deeptone was pleasant. We could all talk in a nearly closed shop without yelling.
