I've got a bunch of pics, noticing the recent posts lack color. But Photobucket has not been cooperating. I'll get them when I can.
Scheduled for Dyno tomorrow AM. Just called them to confirm we're still on.
Since the last pull, I fattened up the main jets a tad, 122.5 to 125. And a bit more on the pilots, I forget the numbers.
Also spent some much needed time on the ignition timing. (running TEC point plate and HondaMan transistors) Suffering from a major brain fart, I couldn't get the point gap right. I was setting it on the "T". Finally resorted to the manual which told me to set it at the highest point of the advance cam. That did it. Set the points at 14thou. set the plate with a static light and it timed up perfect of the "F"s. All the adjustment slots were practically at their midpoints. Hooked up the old Penske strobe light ca 1974, touched the throttle and it went to the advance marks, smooth, solid, right on.
During this, I had pulled the Hitachi advancer and compared it to the other 3 spares I have. I have 1 that has "300" on it, a TEC. I used it instead of one of the Hitachi units. It had tighter springs, which is deemed good, and an obviously larger body with the flyweight stoppers in a different place. Don't know if those characteristics are of any value.
Don't know if its just me, but it really seems to start, idle, and rev better. Here's hoping for some good Dyno numbers.
Then its off to the drags for fun, and the Kentucky KickDown for show.
