Yet Another Neophyte
« on: June 19, 2008, 09:13:08 PM »
Hello everyone:

26 years old and finally going through that rebellious phase: just bought a 1976 CB750F that needs some work, and once it's done I'll be cruising the roads of southern New Mexico.  It's my first bike, and I'm not the most experienced rider, but we'll see if we can't keep the rubber on the ground more often than not.

Thanks for the site, folks - this looks like some great stuff, and I'll be checking here often.

All the best,
Mac

Hizzah!
3 cheers for my friend Mac!

I'm his "hired hand" through the first phase of his motorcycle diary.

Ive known Mac for about 2 years or so. A friend of a friend.
I remember when I saw the devilish grin on his face when i caught him drooling over my CB550 cafe that we would be good friends!

Cheers Mac!

I'm a step ahead of you seaweb - I took the MSF class, passed my test, and I'm now fully licensed and legal.  I highly recommend it, too: even the guys who'd been riding for years learned something new.

And thanks for the tip about joining, Porscheguy.  This is going to be fun.

Got a picture of the bike... pretty, right?  If only she'd run.

What's really sad is how long it took me to figure out how to resize the picture...

Mac,

Welcome to the forum!  You'll find a bunch of people here willing to help.  This is one of the friendliest and most educational forums I've ever been a member of.

You can literally post what happens when you try to push the starter button and the members will take you from there.

I recommend buying and downloading as many reference manuals and materials that you can find and just taking it one step at a time.  We'll be here to provide support.

Now get her running!

Thanks guys.  Porscheguy (see above) is my mechanical/spiritual (is there a difference?) guru, and he's currently got the engine splattered across a workbench.  PO got a plug stuck, plus it has some cylinder issues that suggest he may have been, ahem, less than truthful about when he last rode it.

Still, it was lean and clean.  Couldn't say no.

And here it is now:

If you choose "additional options" beneath the text box when you're posting, you can choose an image to upload.  Just make sure it's the right size.
