Emulsifier tubes, 1976 CB750K
« on: June 21, 2008, 09:19:31 AM »
Can anyone tell me if the emulsifier tubes in a 1976 750F will fit a 1976 750K? The fiche for the 750K shows the part but there's no part number. The closest is part #16012-392-004. This does not contain the emulsifier tube. This was confirmed for me by Western Hills Honda who have that part in stock.

What I think I need is part # 16165-341-004, on the 1976 750F fiche. The needle jet holder.
It is also the part that the main jet screws into. Unfortunately, most places show it to be discontinued.
Why would Honda do this? It just doesn't make sense to keep producing other parts, but not this critical one.

Also, if any anyone has any spare emulsifier tubes they'd be willing to sell, please contact me.

Thank you

HP

It does if you have an MBA.  Can't make money on parts that don't sell routinely.

That was actually just a hypothetical question posed in a moment of frustration. Thanks for the input, though.

The carb body style is the same as for prior models except the ones that had individual cable actuators (from what I can tell).

The emulsion tube/needle jet parts should fit/be interchangeable with any of these carbs.

I would buy four of them if I were you.  As it is possible there may be differences in cross hole size, quantity, or placement.  And, the needle orifice diameter *could* be different if not worn.   Anyway changing all four would at least make all four carbs behave the same.

There is the question of whether the rest of bike is stock (like air filter and exhaust), which would make the exact emulsifier dimensions more "interesting".

Cheers,

Thank you. They look the same to me too. And yes, the rest of my bike is stock. I may go ahead and try to find 8 so that I can do that emulsion tube modification that I've read about.
I've got an order in with Honda-partsdirect, but since they're closed today, I won't know for certain if they can get the part or not. The other two places I tried, Western Hills Honda, and another honda parts place, who's name escapes me, told me the parts were discontinued and not available.

The guy over at TAS is looking into it for me as well, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

I was hoping to get the bike running again by next weekend (girlfriend's coming to town!) but that doesn't look like a possibility now. HPD has a 7-10 day turnaround. I'm still waiting on other parts from them on an order I placed 20 days ago.

And so it goes...
