 ???
At first, I was thinking that I need to dig into my Riding Mower (90 something Craftsman 18hp/42" Cut) and get that thing going, to make things a bit easier than the 5hp Bigwheel push mower. :) THEN, I got to thinking about the CB500K engine that I have (with nothing to put it in)! ::) If I had That engine in there (and could figure out a fairly economical way to hook it up to power the blades and drive the wheels, Oohhhhh Weeeee! :o ;D I could cut that yard in style and QUICK too! :D ;) Ah, there I go Day Dreaming again. ::) Wonder what kind of "Grass Mileage" I'd get? ??? :D

I seem to remember a vid of a dude that put a 750 engine in a lawn tractor.  Had the mower deck removed, but it did wheelies.

This isn't the first time I've gotten off on this train of thought. Some time back, on Home Improvement, I watched an episode where they had a riding mower powered by a Harley engine (a Sportster, I think) and that's when I started thinking about the possibilities. ::)  I guess my biggest question would be "How to power the mower's wheels and drive the blades separately? Just today, in a message to Chris (darkrider), I got to thinking at first about a Yam MX400 or Suz TS400 engine just for the blades. Then I thought about a hydrostatic drive (putting a pump on the engine somewhere) to propel the mower  and using a chain off of the bike engine to run the blades. Then I thought of the bike engine to propel the mower and the hydraulics to power the blades. Also, I DO have a 79' CB750K basket case! ::) Man, I could cut that grass AND have a blast. :D ::)

Bill, you get a pull behind gang mower and tow it behind. No need to power blades!

Bobby, you take all the fun out of it. ::) :D  Besides, I'm looking at the possibility of using what I've got, except I DON"T have a hydraulic pump and motor. :(  I'll probably end up fixing up the old 18hp Briggs engine and doing my grass cutting the ordinary way anyhow. :D

No, it's a Horizonal shaft (18hp, horizonally opposed 2 cylinder)
I could probably fit a 450DOHC engine in there easier. Still would be pretty peppy. :D

Man, I bet OCC is kicking them self right now!! Perhaps John Deer should make this because it looks like it could be functional... if not practical.

OK Bill here's another one from www.3wheelers.com

"My thanks go to Logan Coombs in the USA for these photos of his neighbour's (Harry Dewild) 3-wheeler. Harry writes:

...a little bit about my car....steel frame, square tubing, chain drive. Wood, and plywood body, glass fibre applied partially, color hand painted with brush. Headlights from my mold, glass fibre. Engine is a 650cc Honda, 1970's...5 speed gears. Steering Triumph Spitfire rack and pinion, rest home made. Car was built on a very low budget, many parts donated by friends. Windscreen made from old house aluminium combination storm windows, and plexiglass."

I realize I've gotten off the lawn mower theme but I can't help myself.

Now that's a pretty wicked looking rig at that! 8) Drop a 550/650 Hybrid, like Paul is working on and.....LOOK OUT!!!!! ;)

That 650 would probably give it some pretty good pep though! ;)
