I have 2 daughters and if something happened to one of them, it would kill me. I could not even imagine something like this. Things like this should never happen to a kid. I hope for the best for your family. :'(

There's been some definite progress since last night, and you folks have been part of that. Bre, as we call her, has been breathing on her own, but is still hooked to a respirator just in case. A couple of days ago, her body was basically lifeless, now she is moving a bit, turning her head to find a comfortable position, bending her knees, and they had to restrain her hands because she started messing with her tubes to her mouth. These are small steps, but thank God they are steps. She still isn't consious yet, not able to respond to command, but they tell us that that can be a slow process. Keep 'em coming everyone. You ARE part of the reason for her progress. More later.

I'm not one to pray either, but my thoughts are with you and yours.  I can feel your pain, as a year and a half ago my son was hit by 2 cars.  The care these kids get in these situations is always the best.  If they have anything to say about it, Breanna will be just fine.

Thank God, she is coming along (even though slowly). You all hang in there, the Prayers AND support will be there for Bre and you all. ;)

Our daughter (Karla) went into a Gran Mal seizure on the morning of the last school day of the 11th grade and didn't seem to be coming out of it.She had gone toxic on a seizure medication. We followed the ambulance to the hospital (about 20miles away), at speeds of up to 90mph. Very scary! Not trying to take anything away from this very important thread about Breanna, just relating that several of us have had some kind of experiences and fully identify. Also not trying to make those who might not have had those kind of experiences, any less important either. ;)

I don't pretend to understand God at all.

I said a prayer to God, "Thy will be done", and asked in a personal prayer, that His will is that she come back to you whole and healthy.

Although I am not a praying man, I am a father of three.  Let my wife and I place our hands on your shoulder, along with all the others that are doing the same, so that you may draw on our positive thoughts and feelings for Bre's well-being.

Our sincerest wish she continues to a full recovery.

I'm pretty much the same type of person and Tower put it better than I could, so at least count me and my wife in your corner for thoughts and support.

Jay, I too am not the most religious guy on this planet but I will say this...miracles do happen! As a fellow father of 2 little girls I can only imagine your pain...hang in there. I say the miracles do happen part because I speak from experience...

back in 88 my mom had a wicked fall down a flight of concrete stairs and fractured her skull putting her in a coma for over 3 weeks. More than once my dad was asked if he wanted to pull the plug etc. (I say this only because it shows the gravity of her particualr situation) but he hung in there and knew that she had the will to fight this internally. 3 weeks later she awoke slowly...the doctors said she may never talk again. She began to talk...then they said she may never walk again. She began to walk! You get the idea...she continued to beat all the odds.

I am a huge believer that the body and in particular the brain is a truly remarkable thing that we can't even comprehend yet. The will to get better makes all the difference in the world. Be there with her and talk to her constantly. There is debate as to whether or not they can hear or understand while in a coma but for me there is no debate...THEY CAN! I am sure she is a tough little girl but you and your family surrounding her may be that extra push that she needs to recover.

Please keep us posted and know that all of us are pulling for her and you in this incredibly difficult time!

Jay,

I just prayed and will continue to do so. I will inform my wife to do the same. I have seen the great works of God and you have gone to the right source (God and friends for more prayer).
