I've been away for a few days guys. Took my wife for a couple of days snowmobiling before planting season starts. You just have to get away from it all once in a while. Like Sam said, it's slow but Bre is doing good. We bought a new car for Kirstina a month ago, she drives 140 miles a day, and I told Bre today if she can work hard enough to get her license and drive it she can have it, I'd buy Mom another. I got a big smile out of that. A little incentive never hurts. ;) Anyway, slow but sure, wish I could report more.

          Jay, Sure wish we could have seen that smile, bet it was worth a "MILLION BUCKS!"  8) Thanks for sharing, THAT IS AWESOME! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Well, progress continues, but very slowly. She did have her trach tube out for good last week, turned out fine. The good news is she had a MRI done a while back, it showed little to no damage to the areas of her brain that hold her personality and memory, but she does have damage to the areas that control motor functions. The upside is she has plenty left to learn again but that's just a long slow process. Overall, some good things happening.

Great news Jay!!

Speaking from experience (indirect) when it comes to a TBI that is really a best case scenario. She can and will relearn so much of the skills she had before. When it comes to the other portions of the brain it can REALLY change a person.

My mom suffered a major TBI and there were definite changes in both her motor function AND personality but no where near compared to some of the people in her many support groups. It is actually far harder to understand and deal with when the person looks "normal" yet they actually act enirely different (or inappropriate etc etc etc).

Good vibes still being put out for you and Bre!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, been busy planting crops. Still slow progress, but I mean slow. Bre laughs freely now at jokes and TV and stuff, no physical stimulation, but it's a slow go getting her body moving again. She understands everything as far as we can tell, but basically re-learning everything, every movement from an infant is just a very slow, slow process. More later, I'm about shot right now.

Hey Jay.   I was just going to this thread to post on it and by the time I got there, you had already done it. Glad to hear that she is still progressing, even if it is slow coming. Sure better than none at all. I can well imagine that this has been very draining on you and your family. I'm sure Praying that, one day, she'll be back in the swing of things and all this will be just a memory in the past. Prayers still coming Jay.

Fuzzy, We grow corn, soybeans, and just a lttle wheat. Used to have some livestock, but no more. All I've ever done really, I've been self employed since I was twelve.
