Two Tired, How's the air down there?
« on: June 24, 2008, 02:12:29 PM »
Not so bad in Oakland 'cause we have the ocean breeze coming through the gate. But at the job in Walnut Creek it is pretty nasty, eyes burning, throat sore, headache, etc... You know, like Fremont is year round :D

For those wondering, N. California has a jazillion wildfires burning at the moment.

4 miles visibility. Haze.  Had to close the house up earlier due to the burnt smell and scratchy throat.

Figures.  Now that the heat has come down, I STILL can't work outside due to the smoke!

It's getting better now due to the breeze picking up off the bay, though.

Sunshine at midday was weird.  Looked like a partial eclipse outside.

It does seem a bit dim out. I'm used to seeing the golden grassy hills in the near distance but everything is swallowed up in the brown haze. Mt. Diablo has disappeared entirely and I'm less than 10 miles from the base :P

Just stay off that bike, TT, the ride in to work was like standing downwind at a beach fire and I'm not looking forward to the ride home ( a first ).

Back when I was stationed out there at Hamilton AFB, they weren't having all those fires or even the mudslides, as I remember. Of course that was from Dec 69' til Aug. 70' though. I feel for you all having that to deal with. With my Asthma, I'd probably need a respirator. ::)

When I lived in Palo Alto in the late 70's I could see the fires burning on the hillsides up in the Diablos.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

That was probably just us kids burnin' a few at Rock City. Everyone was burnin' a few in the '70s ;) :D
