hello! Lakes region NH, motorcycle heaven!
« on: June 25, 2008, 05:44:33 AM »
just stopping in to say hi. My father in law just gave me ( I know, pretty good deal! ) a 78 750.   I think it is a 750k.  needs chain and sprockets, fork seals, and a general tune up along with a few other odds and ends.  been sitting outside for a LONG time, but it was under a pole barn so it isnt a complete loss, just not as good as it should be lol!  I guess it has a skip in it as well when running, and an oil leak from one of the hoses, but I am up for fixing it and he has lost interest. I already cleaned the carbs fort him, and it was when he started it and saw the oil leak that he said it is all yours!  once I pick it up and get working I am sure I will have a TON of questions and some pics :)

As we say here in the UK; you jammy, jammy bastard (jammy = lucky). That bastard bit is tongue in cheek.
My father in law has so far only given me grief.

Good luck with the bike

I can see it already, "where does this green wire go?" ;D
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your scoring that bike! When you do get it, post a couple of pics for us. The people here are very smart and very helpful and I'm sure your bike will be squared away in no time.

Not doing what you can to make your bike ride-able during the best riding months of the year kind of defeats the purpose of owning it in the first place.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I forgot to mention that I already have a cm250c ( a real early rebel) and an 88 hurricane 600 ( grandaddy CBR! ) so tearing apart the 750 is pretty easy as I won't be in a terrible hurry to get it back together just to go for a ride tomorrow :)

Welcome.  My brother had a Hurricane 600, until just the other week when someone decided to jam the brakes right in front of him as they were rounding a corner.  I understand that the insurance co is going to total the bike due to the fairing damage.  :(

Congrats on the new bike, looking forward to your pics.

cheers
