Suspension upgrades for a CB 750
« on: June 28, 2008, 06:03:21 AM »
Hey guys, I have a question on something I was thinking of doing on my '78 750 K Flattrack project.  Has anyone put the front end off of, say a CBR600 F or F2 on their bike?  I've been looking at the inspiration gallery and that silver and black CB with the modern suspension has really caught my eye, so I'm curious to know what that might entail.  I'm assuming you would of course have to change out the master cylinder, but I'm wondering about clearance and fitting issues with the triple trees.  Of course, a more rigid swingarm would be nice too, but first things first with the front end.

I saw a kz1000 with a modern front end and wheels. I'd like to do that too. I'm just not sure where to find the info on the forks/triple clamps of various models to see what would work.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

This is what I was looking at.

In the past with other projects I simply either got lucky or didn't with fitting different triple trees, but that involved stuff I already had from other bikes.  I agree, it would be very nice to have a compatibility chart with this kind of thing.

that has some good info in it, but I'd be more interested in snagging the clamps, inverted forks, and wheels for my bike rather than trying to keep it looking "original"

Yeah. It's been done a number of times. I'm planning on doing it myself with my K8. Do a search for "modern Front end" or "front end swap" and you should find some good information.

Thanks for the help!  I'm in the same boat as MJL in wanting to just swap everything over, my concern centers around the steering stem.  Fun Jimmy's thread was very informative though, and I'll see if anyone else has swapped for CBR hardware.
