How do I remove the oil filter cap?
« on: June 28, 2008, 02:45:15 PM »
I am cleaning the oil filter (flinger.) The manuals say to remove the right-side crank case cover (done), remove the oil filter cap circlip (done), and to remove the oil filter cap. I can't figure out how to remove that little monkey. Any tips?

This is on a 1975 CB360T. Thanks!

I haven't messed with the 360, but if it is like the 350 twin, you'll want one of these little nuggets.

To remove the cap screw one of the case bolts into center to push it out.
You only need the peg spanner to remove the housing after the cap is off

Oh funny.  I threaded one of the case screws into the cap and screwed till it hit the back.  I didn't know how much to push. So I should push till it comes out huh? sweet.

Thanks!

You've probably done it by now, but just in case, make sure threads don't bottom out before bolt hits crank end (it wont damage crank)
