Hello from a Newb
« on: July 05, 2008, 03:55:07 PM »
Hello Fellas and Ladies,

I'm a real impulse buyer, so I went ahead and bought a 1978 CB550K.  Problem is I don't know anything about this bike.  Heck, I don't even know how to ride.  I enrolled in a riding school here in Vancouver, BC and can't wait to get this bike on the road.  The goal is to turn this bike into a cafe racer.

I was hoping to get some questions answered from anyone reading this

1 - Where can I get a tank emblem for this bike?  Honda has discontinued them, and I'm having a hard time hunting them down

2 - Can anyone recommend what exhaust I should upgrade to?  I really like the 4 into 2 look, but being a newb, I don't even know where to start looking.  I don't even know the pros and cons to different exhausts, brands etc...

Thanks for reading

Welcome from So Calif.  Use the forums search function from the HOME screen as well as the FAQ thread.  A lot might come up, but that is a way to find info.

You may find that emblem on this site in the for sale area or put a "wanted" ad out there.  Ebay is possible too.  Don't forget vintage cycle shows, David Silver Spares, www.cmsnl.com just to give you a few spots.  Welcome to the board.
