5/8 Hayabusa Brake Master Cylinder
« on: June 28, 2008, 06:12:55 PM »
I am planing to do the dual disc conversion on my CB500. I have just bought a set of 550 forks form Honda!. I had a caliper and GL1000 master cylinder give to me when I bought the bike. But after close inspection the reservoir is cracked at the base. So my question is will a Hayabusa's master cylinder work?

It'll probably work, but you may not have a mirror mount on it if the Busa has the mirrors mounted on the fairing.

I used a M/C of a Naked SV650 on my Waterbuffalo and it works great and has the mirror mount hole.

Are you asking if the ratio between the caliper piston and the mc bore will be okay?

vintagebrake.com/mastercylinder.htm has a chart that will show you what size mc to use depending on how big your caliper pistons are and how many you have.

I recently used this chart to get a new mc off of ebay.  I didn't get into the perfect ratio range that he suggests, but I got close and my brakes feel awesome, and they work really well now too.

I am not worried about the mirror mount I running bar end mirrors

So if I am reading the chart right with 2 38mm pistons I need a 11mm master cylinder.
