Marti you horses ass, just seen that video, laughed till I cried!

One thing you did prove was the starter motor on a CB650 is totally reliable.

One of these days those chain link struts of yours are gonna snap an fly up your ass.
Anyhow, have you done any more to the bike?
Those forward controls look a bit dodgy and how the heck do you heel back to the brake pedal???

forward controls are temporary....(for a year now already,lmao...) bike is going into my shop early february and i will make some more mod's to it....probably some welding here and there and mostly front fork area stuff.....
nice of you to trust my welding ,hush.........lol....

jk man. how much exhaust wrap does it take to wrap the 4-1. i yanked off the exhaust last night.
i searched for a how-to thread for this but couldnt find one.

okay,It's been awhile since i posted here,but with some new mod's on the bike in progress I thought I would dig this thread back up and start out with a video of my last ride before I put her in my shop for a headgasket,home made handle bars and some other mod's.....

made and making some pictures as the small rebuild and mod goes and will post them here when she's finished,shouldn't be too much longer now......

okay,time for a update....

for a long time already my headgasket was leaking from the left side,and i still want to do some more mods to the bike...

so,let's get started with the engine...

here you can see what a cheap basterd i am....rolled up alu-foil for exhaust gaskets...

carb's and fueltank etc off the bike,valve covers removed....

here the cam cover is removed....

and the cam removed....

looking at the rocker arms it shows it has some wear on the face where it glides over the cam,thinking about replacing the cam train this winter,the cam is not that nice anymore...

hard to see,but it is worn down enough for me to want to replace it...

found out why my headgasket was leaking oil,this side has a o-ring...

this side doesn't have a o-ring...

and that was where she was leaking....

got some carbon build up on the pistons,will clean that all off,last owner said it ran on farm fuel when he had it...

now most spark plugs looked pretty good,a bit lean but not too bad,except for the left plug,seems that cylinder wasn't running that good..

intakes look like they have carbon build up as well ,so i will clean and lap the valves,cause they are leaking..

my exhaust lost part of it's heatwrap due to touching the ground here and there...will have to re-wrap it and make some sort of skid plate under it..

all in all i didn't find too many scary things inside...a valve lap,carbon cleaning etc.. will get her back on the road in no time....
i'm also making a handlebar for it and will post pic's here soon about that....

the speedo and tach will be removed and maybe some other things as im going....

okay,so i got a little deeper into the project,and of course it's getting to be a bigger project as I'm going.....

I pulled the motor out......I will be painting it black and alu color...not sure what will be black or alu.....

when I dropped the oil pan I was curious what I would all find in there,but I only found this washer in there..

Now I've been reading lot's on this forum and read that you have to remove the oil pan to get the engine out....so I did,just to find out that honda has made a smart frame design,where you DON'T have to remove the oil pan...guess I didn't know that....

next up was the cockpit ...I wanted to change that a long time already and thought this was a good time to get started on it.....

I will keep the speedo for now and mount it center on the handle bar area and make some led lights for indicators,oil light and neutral....

so,most of this crap won't be back on the bike.....

I'm working on some broom stick handle bars,here's some pictures in the process.....

I'm putting 7/8" solid steel rods into a bigger pipe(so that the controls etc. fit)for a bit more thicker look of the bars...

Now I had some friends over and we got planning of what would be cool to do on the bike and since I'm known for being a remote start expert on cars they figured it would be cool to make this bike remote start....so I will make this bike remote start,eliminating the need for the ignition switch...!!!! Only thing I will have to do is pull out the choke cable when I walk away from my bike and then I can just start it from a distance......

That should turn some heads.......
Now the problem was that I need to make a water proof box for the remote start and decided that the space where the stock air box sits would be perfect.....

the airbox is in this pile of crap some where....

Now looking at the cavity it creates I came to the conclusion that if I re locate the battery and rectifier etc. down onto the front part of the swing arm,it would create alot of room for a airfilter pod and the box for the remote start,so that will happen now....since my swing arm can't move anyway anymore,it's perfect for that...

so I will have to find a pod filter that fits onto this smaller airbox that sits right behind the carbs..

a filter that fits where I'm pointing at...

meanwhile I looked in side this airbox and it clearly shows that the airflow is pretty restricted for the outer 2 carbs...I will have to dream up something for that,to give em more airflow....

I might have a idea for the air intake,but I will tell ya later if it works out...

Now the best ideas come of course when you had a few of these...

so,here's in short what I'm working on right now:
-relocate battery and all other crap down onto swing arm
-install remote starter,make it keyless and water proof..
-finish my handle bars
-re assemble,clean and paint engine
-design cockpit with just speedo and some indicator leds
-paint and mod front forks
-do SOMETHING with that big ass front light
-relocate fuse box(it sits on top of where you clamp down the handle bars..
-make my highway steps a bit better looking then it is right now

got a few things to do I guess,this is how she is sitting right now.....

theres not much room between carbs 1&4 and the frame rails but I went with low profile pods

I did the same thing,removed oil pan and everything to get the %^&&$^&#^ engine out and found that rail after wards ..

Haven't found out where that washer goes,didn't seem like it was missing from the top end when I took that off...will do some searching to see where it would fit or could be missing....

where did you find those low profile pods...

?

unifilter PS 48-road bike pod. mines slider carbs so theres the 48mm fit. they give me about 4mm clearance to the frame on the outside 2 and I had to extend the inside pods 15mm away from the inside carbs to clear the choke linkage.
