Exhaust condition help
« on: August 30, 2005, 08:53:10 AM »
What can I do with this.......
Everybody admires the bike when I take it out until they see the exhaust.
It's rusted flaky nearly all around. It's solid but looks s**t
The conversation changes from all the good things to just the exhaust.
(I'm not changing it.....I can't justify the cost)
Any suggestions.??
Paul.

Are these the only spots? No rust through? Might try some rust conversion product then some high temp silver paint to make it less noticable.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Here's how to justify it:
NOS from DSS at about £80 each - that's £4 per year for the next 20 years assuming you look after them...

£316.00 + Vat + Carriage App £400 Convert to Euro € 584.00  :o

Thanks Steve....Send me your bank for the direct debit and I'll give you  an even £5 a year. :D

Wire brush and silver smoothrite. Will stink till it cures but should hidw the brown bit. Only other way is Motad or Marshal 4 into 1 but then you pay over half of the standard system and i know which i prefer!
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
