exhaust advice
« on: June 29, 2008, 11:48:35 PM »
i bought this exhaust off of a '76 CB750F because i figured i could use the headers and sell the muffler. my bike, '75 CB750 K5, is all taken apart so there is no easy way for me to figure out if these will fit, (the headers that is i know the muffler won't just bolt on), until i have the engine back in the frame which could be a while. anybody have a opinion or know for sure?  they are in pretty good shape, no dents or holes just some surface rust, i thought i might even be able to sell the whole thing and buy some that will fit for sure.

I think they would fit or could be made to fit.

Question 1: Does your K5 have spigots or the stud type exhaust clamps?

You'll need the stud type with that exhaust.

Might have to check the center stand clearance.

Conversion is easy.  Metric exhaust studs from the local hardware store, then find some star clamps and half-moon retainers on eBay.

I believe I have a set of the clamps....stud type.

Thier rechromed (by mistake..sent the wrong ones in).

I'd take $50 for them which is less then the chrome costs.

As an aside, kghost, I've been meaning to ask whether your avatar was some of Boris Vallejo's work?

No thats Jet witch by Derek Hess.

Near as I can tell...and I have the sticker on the back of my helmet...its a Pratt and Whitney R2800 and not a jet at all.

I just liked it because I have about 3000+ hrs of flying Pratt radials.
