When asked what kind of bike I ride, and I begin to reply "CB... ", I already see the familiar glossy eyed stare of confusion. To which I finish by saying it's an old Honda. Their reply... "oh."

Also, "why didn't you get a Harley... Harleys are cool. My mom's boyfriend has one and... bla bla bla."

I get the distinct feeling my neighbor with an SV thinks I'm nuts. There are times, especially after reading some of these hop-up threads, where I wanna go all out to build something to spank that SV. Then come to my senses.

I understand the feeling of wanting to spank an SV.  Then I rode one.  That is a long and expensive battle, my friend.  Casualties would be high.  I still hear you, though.  But you can't get blood from a stone.

:D I just don't have that kinda bread. Now, if mec would just let me borrow his beast...

I understand Honda's Hawk GT (NT)650 is something when ya give it some more motor for that nice chassis.

Anyway, I got my 550 for different reasons than the SV guy.

them-  "WOW! that thing is a ton of fun!  I see why you ride it now!"
or-  "I wanna sell mine and get one of these!"
me-  "I know right?!"
everything I say is pure speculation and
I have no idea what I'm talking about  ._.

At the dealer ordering parts he asked if it was an F or K model.

That's better than at least 60% of the parts guys at the dealer, though.. (you know the ones that keep insisting you must have really meant to say CBR because that's all they ever heard of...

"Why waste your time with a bike like that when you could get a real one like a [gixxer, ninja, cbr]?"
-Um... because it's NOT a [gixxer, ninja, cbr]
"Why don't you want them?! They go FAST!"
-Because I want to SEE what's AROUND me.
"Ugh. Carbs. I hate carbs.  I'm getting EFI on my bike.  Anything else is crap."
-Uh, no, CRAP is paying the stealership to reprogram your bike everytime you change something.
(on saying I have a motorcycle...) "Do you have a Harley? I like Harleys! My {whoever} has a Harley!"
-Nope, I have a quality bike.  While both are made in Japan, mine actually tends to last more than 30 years.
