The one that got away?
« on: July 01, 2008, 04:29:03 PM »
I found this awesome 72 CB750 on craigslist and immediately hopped on it, and then I call the guy and tell him I'm just about to leave the house so make sure he's there.

And he just tells me sorry "it's sold I don't have it anymore". I don't understand what happened? The ad had been expired on craigslist by now, and he knew I was coming to buy it. But poof, like he didn't know me. Cold feet maybe? Or maybe he is paranoid? Whatever it was I'm totally heartbroken, she was such a beauty and was the perfect quick fixer upper. I've been trying to find his number anywhere on the net so I can call him and get a better answer, or maybe ease him into selling it again. But no luck and he wouldn't respond to my emails.

I know there are lots of CB750s out there but bikes at deals like that are hard to come by. Oh well just wanted to share are lost bikes storys, anyone have a similar story :D ( no crying  ;) )

Thanks for reading

Same thing happened to me on a CBX a few years ago.  The guy was only a few miles from my house.  I asked to come by maybe 3 times and he kept putting me off.  Finally something was arranged for the weekend.  I called the day before and he had sold it...

Yeah. Sounds shady. I wouldn't worry much about it. You'll fall in love with one again. You're a man, and motorcycles are like pretty girls.... just as one is out of sight another wiggles by.

With the post title "the one that got away" I was all prepared to tell you about the girl that managed to turn my liver into to dust, but now I understand what real pain is :(

:D I know I agree it sounded shady, but what more can you expect from craigslist right? It sure was pretty though.

Anyways good news I made a wanted add on craigslist offering cash or POSSIBLY my CB350 (I don't really want to sell it, but I needed to put it up to make it not get flagged. Although if someone offers me a beauty 70-72 I would probably do it) I've already gotten TONS of replys, so hopefully I'll find myself another mistress :p

@Chad- Your right, I guess thats why they get girls names.

Sure. Another CL story.

'76 CB 550 Four been sitting. $100. The guy is an hour away. I told him Tuesday I'd pick it up Wed. nite and offered to make a payment or deposit via paypal.

Wed. got an email saying it was sold. What? Ok, he never responded about a deposit, but figured everything was cool. I know money talks and all. My bad luck I guess.

Thursday got an email saying the guy backed out on him. I said I'd out that night after work

A bit of a hassle or hiccup, sure, but I am happily working on the one that got away and came back.
