Honda CB125S carburetor float replacement
« on: July 06, 2008, 08:24:21 AM »
Looking to get advice with replacing the carburetor float on my 1975 CB125S bike. I got the cover off but I am not sure how to take out the float to replace.  Thanks..

Float or float valve?

The float is item 4 in this pic. Slip the hinge pin out one side or the other, catch the float and the needle(lower part of item 2). If its like my 750, gently unscrew the seat, if you're changing the needle and seat (upper part of item 2).

Thanks for all the information. I was able to take out the float and in doing so there was a pin that fell out from the float up to the carburetor. The pin has a point on 1 side and a toggle type nipple on the other. Which side of the pin goes to the float? The pin is below the # 2 on the diagram that Kevin D posted for me...

That pin is the float valve.  The cone shaped end goes up in the hole(valve seat), and the end with the springy thing(technical term) goes against the tab on the float.  Do NOT stick anything that might scratch the valve seat, as it will cause a leak.  But it is important to clean it.  Try a solvent soaked rag(tip).  A Q-tip is a bit too big.
