Topic: 1978 CB550 Rocker shaft covers?

Hello gang:

On the CB550 series, are the side rocker shaft covers all the same?  If not, what other years can be utilized on my 1978 CB550? The ones that came on my bike were severely rusted...have polished them with Never-Dull, on and off for 2 days...they still look bad....If anyone has an old set of chromed ones that will fit, I would be interested. I thought that (but didn't post it!)

They are aluminium and polish up nicely. Any 500/550 will fit.

Just remember to fit new o-rings.

Follow-up comment:  I thought the originals were aluminum also, but mine are chromed and rusted really bad...maybe even chemically damaged by the prior owner.  Just need to know if I could change them out with another set other than 1978 bikes. Thanks, Dr. Mark

I don't think 500's will fit.  I tried to put '73 500 caps on my '76 550F and they weren't a match, much to my surprise.  Maybe I was drunk, who knows.

The CB500 and CB550 parts books both list the same part # 12330-323-000, which indicates that the part originated with the CB500 (323 model code) and carries through the CB550 line.
