Price check!
« on: July 05, 2008, 02:19:19 PM »
Just curious guys, had some thoughts about selling this XS I just picked up. Just not sure if I want to get into another bike at the moment. But, I need some opinions. Where should I start on an asking price? Here is a little info about the bike.

1981 Special II, unknown mileage, runs great. Almost new VM36 Mikunis, lots of new tune up parts. New plugs/caps/wires/coil, all XS Performance stuff from MikesXS. New 'euro' bars, new front pads, new turn signal relay, new battery, new fuse box, new handlebar isolators, new turn signals(only fronts installed). I think that's all I've put on there since I've gotten it... It comes with a ton of parts though too.
Two other tanks
An engine stand
A spare set of cases
spare set of cylinders
spare rocker box
factory air box
spare factory carbs BS34 mikunis
a ton of jets for the VM36's
spare petcocks
and probably a few more things.

Bike runs awesome, hauls some serious cheese compared to the CB350 twin that sits next to it. Does it need a few things? Sure, will need some tires, at least a front, and yea, it's not really pretty, at all really. But there are few things better than having a bike that you can ride anywhere, rain or shine. And it'll do just that. I dig the machine, but, as I said, I have the 350, and I almost feel like I cannot delegate the time between them. I feel now since I have a running/riding machine, I'm being too lax in reassembling the Honda. So here are some pictures, some of it now, and some of it when I got it. And yes, those super sweet factory bars will come with it if. So, starting price?

Here are some pictures.

When I first picked it up, shows the boxes of parts...

I'd like to buy it, but I'm in WI :(

I think $1200 is fair, but I don't know too much about the XS's.  I've been watching the local craigslist, and it seems if they are under $1000, they are gone in hours, but if they are over $1500, they don't sell.  Thats where I get my numbers.  Good luck on your decision, and my prices are nothing but guessing.

I would say $1700 but there is an awful lot of baggage with the bike. It may be best to sell some of it independently.
