James, from the short time i've been working on my restoration project I've come to the conclusion that most out of stock items have been discontinued by Honda for the simple reason they are relatively easy to replace by pattern parts or other sources. So I can only surmise the washer you're looking for is a bog standard washer.
PS is the quote at the end of your post Cumbrian?

rhos,

if it was cumbrian I would've pronounced the full stop as "eh"  :D

No its a line from the film 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' (one of my favorite films) but with a bit of 'The Simpsons' on the end

What does the old one look and feel like?  Typically, aluminum and copper washers are used as "crush" washers to make a "hard" seal.  The drain plug on the crankcase is a crush washer.  The banjo bolts on the brake system use crush washers.  I can't tell what the washer in the picture does, or if it needs to "seal" anything.  I hope I've given you enough information to help.

And I recognized the quotes.

6.6mm =1/4 in

Sounds like it is easy to make, alum or copper both work for crush washers..

Yes its allumunium but a THICK copper one will do or one of what i know as "Dowty Sealing Washers" that have a rubber insert and normally available from hydraulic people.

PS get extras as there is another one at the top off the cam chain tensioner

But, what does it "seal"?  I don't recognize the application as anything that needs sealing.  Is it some sort of passageway for oil?  My background is in parts, not wrenching, so it's not so obvious to me.

That washer doesn't seal anything.  If you have oil coming out of there, you've got bigger problems.

Looks like its just a washer, there to lift the bracket that the valve cover end-caps bolt to.  Not sure why it needs to be there, but a standard washer should do the trick.  I suppose that bracket can twist/turn on maintenance, so having a washer keeps it from wearing on the valve cover.  Who knows.

But, again, it isn't sealing anything.  The end-caps have two pins with o-rings that go into the shafts where your rocker arm shafts go in and out of.  They are prone to leaking, so replace the o-rings while you're there.  They seal the oil in the valve train.

As previously established, it's a thick aluminum washer, can be replaced with copper or one of those rubber insert washers.(neat idea, btw)

What does it seal? That bolt goes into that puddle of oil at the end of the cam - outside the bearing where the oil feed comes squirting out. There's probably more oil in that area than there is splashing the chain tensioner - where the Honda folks also felt a need for the same washer.

Happy trails.

That picture tells way more than the parts diagram.

That bolt also blocks the end of the drilled oil way up from the base gasket forcing oil along the oil pasages to feed the cam brgs

it definitely seals the stud hole from leaking oil everywhere from the cam case. i fitted one of those covers to a 650 engine to make it look more like a 550, and until i got the fit right it leaked from that hole. there's no pressure (other that crankcase pressure), but there is oil behind it.
