Here she is in all her glory!

Base bike is a 71 SL350.  Got her 2.5 years ago.  First bike I ever bought.

Let me know what you think!

Woot!

great looking bike!  "they" WILL get you on that license plate though... they don't like mine and it is not even close to as horizontal as yours.

i really do like the simplistic and "shaved off" look... props!

i can't quite make out whats going on w/ the headlight ears... can you get a pic of that?

Looks like stock SL ears..

I think the CB 350 2LS front brake will bolt on for greater braking power..

Thanks guys!

I've attached a blow-up of the headlight ears.  Yes, they are stock SL350.

Not sure about the exhaust, it came with the bike...  You should have seen it when I got it.  I'll have to look for a pic.  I know I've got one somewhere...  It still had the stock fenders, and a bobber style seat.  Looked kind-of goofy.  I'm pretty pleased with the look now.  Love the sound of that exhaust!  =)

Thanks for the tip on the front brake.  I'll have to look into it.  That's one thing that could definitely use some improvement!

I'm agreeing with the others, really nice build and especially for your first! 8) ;) Yeah, those headlight mount pieces might could be used on others, to give a custom look. And the K2 came with a 21" front wheel also (for those who like the larger front wheel).

                                 Take care, Bill ;)

Nice looking build.  If it were mine, I'd paint the fork lowers black and either paint or powdercoat the rims & hubs.  That would give it a more complete look IMO.  But hey, it's your bike, you do what you want.  It looks good either way.

          Chris, the SL350 K0 & K1 had 33mm fork tubes, while the K2 had 35mm fork tubes.

BTW, Greg (ohiocaferacer) has a list compiled over on his site (ohiocaferacers.com

I like the "naked" look. And I agree with 754 about the 2ls front brake. If it were mine the only other change I would make would be a smaller front wheel, but that just my preference, I don't care for the big front wheel look. And maybe painting/powdercoating the lower forks. But not the rims.

Where did you get the rear fiberglass seat/fender piece?

Kinda looks like an Omar piece (or reasonably facsimile)

Now that I get a closer comparasion, I can see that it's not an Omar's (unless they've refined theirs over time).

Thanks again guys!

The tail/seat comes from hotwing glass.  Here's a link:

http://www.hotwingglass.com/seats/xr-flat-track.shtml

The current plan is to swap out the front fork/wheel for something with a disc brake setup.  I noticed that the front fender mounts on my current fork won't accomodate the caliper mount.

Cosmetically, I want to polish up the fork sliders, add fork boots and then get some assorted bits powdercoated black including the rims and front fender.  Haven't decided if I will get the hubs powdercoated.  Will need either chrome or stainless spokes to relace the wheels...  Then maybe it will be done?!?  Seems like I always find something else.

Whoops, forgot about "Hot Wing". ::) Seems to fit right in with the look. 8)  Sounds like you've got some good ideas going there too! ;)

As far as getting it finished, some of them are never really finished, are they?  Thanks for posting.

uber,

As much as I like the classic Cafe your's is a very refreshing take on things. Good work!

If you're happy by all means keep it as is but as mentioned flat trackers have wider bars with a slight rise.

Either way your ride is a winner.
