are carbs different from year to year?
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:58:19 PM »
so i just purchased my first SOHC - a '75 CB750F. the carbs are way gummed up, and i've managed to break the float pin tower-thingy that's a part of the carb body (don't ask). i need another carb, but i need to know if a carb from another year 750 will work - ie, carbs from a '74 will be the same as the ones on my '75. any ideas? i may pick up another set and use the best parts to make a complete set of four.

thanks,

They can be.  Go to the main SOHC site (Website button at top) and click on the CB750 link.  Look in the specs section for each year.
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine

        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175

i tried that - it just lists the jet size, etc. not the carb model itself. unless i'm missing something?

There are model numbers on the carbs, so matching them up isn't too difficult.  But the jet sizes can be different depending on what bike(or year of bike) the carbs are off of.  The sizes are on the side of each jet.
Go metric, every inch of the way!
