I'm 6'4 and riding a 73 750 K3, I've been trying to think of a way to make my legs a bit more comfortable. Has anyone experimented with this sort of thing? Any suggestions? Thanks.

im 6'7" and ride a 1980 cb650,got the same problem,it feels like i got my knees next to my ears..
im planning of moving the footrests forward, somewhere around the front of the pipes, and im in process of making it a bobber, with a single seat, that will be backwards more...
now for a 750 this might be different, but raising the seat might offset your point of gravity and change the behavior of the bike...
lowering the pegs might be giving you trouble with ground clearances of the pegs in corners..
how about what you see on a cafe racer, where they move the pegs more to the back..???

not really an answer, more brain storming along with ya.. ::)

You could always get some fwd controls or cheaper option some small engine guards and put foot pegs on these for alternate leg position. Im 6`4 (leg - 36`) and have learned to live with it....

Me on my cafe CB750K2 - good for 200 miles before the legs get a little stiff.

and touring on a K4 - shocks are stock length. Seat height is high - its a K2 seat which has a little more padding. Good for long distance riding.

good luck
Andy

I too am 6'4" and I made my own seat.  The padding ended up being the same thickness as the factory pad, but the new foam is much firmer so I sit higher.  Sitting an inch higher with the firmer padding has made a world of difference for my back.  I am still thinking about rearsets in the future.

I don't think you'd want to lower the foot pegs as that would greatly reduce your cornering clearance.  The suggestion to mount crash bars with highway pegs would probably be the most practical.  Or maybe you could install rear-sets and then sit on the back half of the seat.

Anyway, just throwing out ideas here.  I don't have that issue due to only being 5'7".

I had the same problem being 6' 2" with a 36" inseam. What I did to help me ride in a better position on my 78 CB750F3 Super Sport was first I customized the seat. I used the original seat pan but built and formed a new multilayer foam pad. This allowed me to build a slightly seat back position with a couple inch rise for a modified Cafe look about 4 inched back from the "normal" riding position on the standard seat. I also used BMX axle pegs for my main pegs. This lowers the standard pegs an inch and places them an inch more forward. These pegs just bolt on the ends of existing engine mounting threaded rod that I replaced with a slightly lengthend stainless 1/2" threaded rod. Now I have slides in the case of a lay-down.

did exactly that on my GSXR1100, lower and further fwd pegs for more comfort for my 6'4".

Mind you, that bike comes already with reasets that were quite high, so didnt really reduce cornering clearance.

mounted the rider seat higher by using some rubber spacers, that one would be trickier on a sohc.

We are pretty much on our own, all the aftermarket stuff is to make you look more racy (but more uncomfrtable!), so DIY....

I added some GSXR rearsets(thanks TIA), pegs are higher up and further back which changes rider position from an uncomfortable squat to a more comfortable crouch. Note the knee position in relation to the tank. I'm 6'4" in the morning, before the weight of the world starts crushing me :D

Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame
