Anyone Seen This Replica Of Dick Mann's 750 Honda?
« on: May 11, 2008, 01:41:13 PM »

Saw this in the June issue of Cycle World and thought I'd post it. Cycle World says $695 and the site says $599.95 for a 1/6th scale model!

Here's a link for the info on it:

Saw the ad. Wow, if I won the lottery I still wouldn't pay $600 for that. I'd rather take that money and put it towards some real bike parts and make mine look a least a little like the real thing. Like maybe a seat or fairing or a down payment on some pipes.

I hear ya loud and clear! ;) Until I saw how much it was, I was thinking maybe $50-60 and I still could get some actual bike parts for that much. Looks pretty cool, but not THAT cool. ::)

It appears that we think alike on a lot things Bill. Especially since were not overly rich, well at least I'm not. The cool factor only goes so far for me.

On a side note, I sure hope you and the family have been safely rideing out all the crummy weather thats been coming your way lately. I cringe every time I hear the weather reports, what you guys get usually comes thru Ky too! But we've been luckier than Arkansas so far.

I'm not in the "Overly Rich" category either. As you say, the Cool Factor can only go SO far! Most I EVER gave for a diecast (and I don't remember the scale, maybe about a foot long) was about $50 for a 1948 Indian Chief, but there was more than a Cool factor on that one. There was also a Sentimental Factor as well since my Family was involved in the motorcycle business and with the Indians of old. Yeah, Arkansas has had quite a bit of Nasty Weather. We've managed to stay out of most of it though. About a month ago, it was mighty close. out of 3 Severe Thunderstorms, we caught side of the edge of 2 and the last one came through our area and went down the highway towards the main part of our town and  on out of he area. We are about 2 city blocks from that highway. That was the night that they had "Tennis Ball sized hail" and high winds from tornado like activity. Seems like a fair amount of the bad stuff either goes above or below us. Hope you all miss the bad stuff too.
                                      Take care, Bill ;)

I'd like to have a real cb77 Super Hawk again myself. That's what I was looking for when I got my 750k. Had 1 back in 1967 and had more fun with than probably any bike I every had. Maybe not, that Honda 50 cub was a blast too.

Actually, I was talking "Diecast", but I know your feeling about a real Super Hawk. I had a 66' CB72 250 Hawk in 68' and I could outrun most of the 305s  (except for one CL77 305. Scrambler).  I've got a pretty ratty 63' Super Hawk that has a CA77 engine in it. I'm in the process (even though slowly) of getting the parts together to get it back on the road though. It won't be stock though. For one thing, I can't afford to put it right and for another, I want to build it slightly Custom instead.

May 15th I'm going to a "Whizzer" bike show thing about 50 miles from my house. That's the guy I met that helped build the motors for the world speed record holder on a twin engine Whizzer. He's into flat track bikes and has several old Honda's set up for flat tracking. He's got about 4 bikes I'd love to get my hands on. All kinds of Honda parts still in original packages - mostly small bore stuff. I think he said he still had 8 or 9 Honda 50 cubs just sitting around. The man has forgotten more about bikes than I'll ever know. He bought out an old Honda dealer about 3 years ago - about 33 bikes of different sizes, and parts up the wa zoo. Nothing newer than 1976 or 78. and that was a 750k. I'm going to go drool over all that stuff again!!!

Oops, actually it's May 22nd.

I bought the original 1/6 scale 1970 Honda CB750 kit by Tamiya back in 1981 for $20. I still have it. About 5 years ago I saw the CB750 Japanese Police version kit for little over $100. $600 for the CR750 version is a bit too much. I should've bought it back in 1981 when I had a chance but I bought the Yamaha 1100 Mightnight Special and Kawasaki KZ1300 instead for $30 each. Oh well.

I have my own little museum, with 175 bikes in 1/10,1/9, 1/6 and 1/12 scale(can't afford to have more than one real bike!) diecast and model kit.I just can't resist to buy  models i don't have in my collection,i think i will alway buy scale bikes ;D

I have this cr750, i paid around 80$ almost 10 years ago.I try to have the most desire bikes.

I have a room just for my bikes,i try to write a little history of each bikes,so when someone
take a look at my bikes(and they don't know a damn thing about motorcycles) they can learn a little bit of motorcycle history.
