Whats the easiest way to lower a 1975 CB750
« on: July 08, 2008, 01:44:33 PM »
Hey I am 5"10 with a 30 to 31 inch in seam and I love everything about my 1975 CB750 except for the ride height I am at the point of getting cramps in my legs while stopped or trying to push backward completely on the balls of my feet whats the easiest way to get the seat height down a couple of inches without compromising the stability of the bike I dont mind rigid I dont ride through too many twisties and I might go a 100 while passing someone but usually cruise in the 75 to 80 range

any advice you can give would be appreciated.

In my opinion the easiest would be getting a cafe type seat but the cheapest would be installing some lowering blocks on the rear shocks and leveling the front fork.
Baja native.

for the front end, either push the forks through the triple tree or change the springs in the fork tubes... do a search...lots of info will come up.  The rear end can be lowered by using short shocks or lowering blocks.  If you have rear discs you might have problems with using lowering blocks, my shock was hitting the caliper when I installed the block.  Shaving your seat will help also.

I have a 74, 75, 78 cb750...11" rear shocks, tubes pushed through the triple tree 2", and cafe racer seat.  I'm 5'3" and I'm flat footing at stoplights.

Oh shoot... you beat me to that one!!!  :D

1. Short Shocks - EASY

2. Lowering Brackets - EASY

3. Pushing Tubes Up in Tree - EASY

4. Seat Replacement or Modification - EASY to MODERATELY DIFFICULT (for some)

5. Smaller Diameter Rear Wheel Swap - MODERATELY DIFFICULT (for some)

I've done all five to my bike.
