Overall, I like the look of my bike. (i know, the rusty pipes must go!) I've never really dug the big fender and taillight assemblies on old Hondas, though. I had a CX that I just chopped the fender and grab rail off of, but it ended up reminding me of minibike. Anyone have a good idea for cleaning up behind the seat? I still need something to keep the spray down.

Also, I have no signals to worry about, just a license and taillight will need to be incorporated.

No sh!t......you just turned it around? Does look good....I can't stand mine either although I did ditch the totally oversized tail lite for a bates style. I also like the chopped down front fender ....I'm runnin sans fender now but might try something like yours or maybe some type of fiberglass unit.

I like that. The price only makes it sweeter.

Can it be mounted any farther back than that or did you put it back as far as it would go?

I just used the threaded holes that are already in it. I suppose you could move it fore/aft but that would require drilling etc. I did round over the very back edge and put some stick-on door edge guard (from Pep Boys).

It`s a Kerker with a Borla 2.5 in tip

I took the kerker baffle and shortened it and cut down the outside dia.(dont want to get hassled or deaf)

Very cool!!!!!.I'm running a frankenstein Kerker. I bought the head pipe off Ebay a few years back for $50. 2.5 inch outlet (racing pipe). A bit later,I found a Kerker off of a newer Honda that had the head pipe kinda bashed in but I just wanted the megaphone off of it. When I got it....it looked rougher than I was expecting but I am running it with no baffle and cone piece. I might like to try running that Borla for under $50. How did you hang it? Is it fairly quiet? My old fugly Kerker is quiet when I want it to be but has a tasty note when rapping it up.

I didn't like the mass of fender and taillight either, so I cut around 8 inches off the front of my fender and slid it up. I had to add a bolt on either side of the frame loop in back, so it is very solid. You could run a Lucas style taillight w/mount and it would look pretty smooth.

If you don't want to cut it, you could always slide it back and make some mounts for it. I ended up using the taillight holes and made one other bracket to mount it. Depending on how much time you spend making the mounts it will also allow you to find a more cosmetically pleasing angle for the fender.

While I do like the looks of many of the rear fenders in this thread, if you care about keeping water off of your back then the fender needs to extend pretty much to the end of the rear wheel. It is truly amazing how wet you can get from the stream of water that shoots up off of the back wheel if there isn't something to stop it. I played around with fender ideas on my 750 K8 project for a good while and ended up with something similar to Shenanigans. Stock plastic inner fender was retained while the stock rear fender was shifted forward about 3 inches and angled slightly different. I filled the holes from the original tail light and mounted a lucas tailight / liscense plate combo. The effect was to slim down the rear of the bike without totally loosing the stock look. This is pretty much the overall concept of my bike. I also avoid the water stripe on back if it happens to be wet out . . . .

It`s a $7 trailer lamp from wally world with a red 1157 led bulb. The mounting bracket is some aluminum angle I had laying around. It mounts to the raised flat portion where the fender attached to the rear frame hoop.

Here's my rear. Fender was cut, sanded and a sausage light was used for a tail light. It seems to work.

Thats the light I bought.....from Mike's XS....I thought it was Bates but it is Lucas style.......whatev.....it beats the hell outa the stock "light tower"

On the front I basically cut off the parts that were pitted pretty bad, and the very front edge had a good sized dent. I simply wrapped the ends with masking tape, re-mounted the fender and started drawing out lines till I came up with something I liked lines/size wise and also removed as much of the cruddy stuff as possible. Then I trimmed it with a 4in angle grinder with a cutoff wheel on it, a little bit of filing, and finally a tiny bit of rustoluem silver on the fresh cut edge to keep further rust at bay. Finished it up with some chrome door edge guard from Pep-Boys.

Ooohhhhkay.....the chrome door edge guard is what threw me. I thought you had maybe sectioned it in the middle and had it rechromed. That would be lots of work for sure. Killer bike by the way

P.S. How did you shorten your rear shocks?

I shortened my rear fender at its front, too, and slid it forward.
