I scanned the internet for a couple days now and could not find any 8mm head stud insertion tool. So I decided to make a couple for myself. Pretty easy using a metric internally threaded couple and a metric set with a ball tip. I attached McMaster-Carr's part number/drawings for easy purchase on www.mcmaster.com.

What I am going to do is insert the set in one end of the couple. Thread the couple and set onto the end of my new stud. Torque it down to specification. Remove the torque wrench and release the couple by backing out the ball end set. Presto, should work like the 10mm stud insert tools I have seen.

i always take 2 nut's with a washer in between,and tighten the nut's together on the stud,then it funtions as a bolt head,insert the stud,and remove the nut's...done..

To make it easy to remove, you should reduce the amount of surface area opposing the force. So you have the primary threads of the collar with a very small area in opposition unlike two nuts where the force in opposition is equal to the driving surface.

Makes the process easier without the possibility of backing out your stub after you just torque in it...

Mc MaSTER- cARR IS A HUGE INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIER IN THE us..

WE CAN GET STUFF FASTER FROM THEM TO CANADA, THAN SOME cANADIAN SUPPLIERS CAN..
