sealing rims
« on: July 09, 2008, 12:35:08 PM »
So I have been looking occasionally and found thread on the advrider forum about sealing rims and ditching the tube.
No I know our rims were never created for it, so do not have the normal bead for a tubeless tire. These guys appear to be doing this to other rims meant to use tubes. Some of the bike mentioned have been triumph tigers, a ducati elephant over 10 years old, and a ktm.

Now I suppose maybe the rims are made different but they are still meant to use a tube. As there are pletny of benefits to a tubeless tire, I was wondering if anyone has had the time to try it.

Did they lace up a different rim to the hub?

Not a one. Same rim and hub. They used different sealants to seal up the spokes.

BMW does it on factory bikes..

I am guessing surface prep and right sealer are the 2 main hurdles..
