Dealers know NOTHING!
« on: September 08, 2005, 05:31:17 PM »
I went to my local honda dealer and went to get a choke cable. He asks if it is for the K or F. Gee they are the same bike! Unless there was a very small run done right at the end of 1978, they are BOTH SOHC!

But was he born yet when these bikes were made? These dealers and mechanics look younger all the time.

hey!!!!!! I resemble that remark... ummm, i mean... i resent that.

i'm often told i dont look "pushin 30"  ...   just because someone "doesn't have the look"  doesn't mean they don't have the experience.

i understand i make an ass out of myself often (just look at the gas thread)  but, if i worked in a shop... I would know what i was talking about (for the most part  ;)  )

I got one for you. I took both of my rims in to the dealer to have new tires mounted and the told the kid at the service counter to put in new rim strips and new inner tubes,he gives me an uncomprehending stare and says"you want inner tubes? But the tires are brand new."

OK Mr Eldar,

I am as stupid as your dealer because I would have asked you the same question.
The reason I say this is I don't know sod all about stock SOHC4s.
The CR750 I built for my mate chris had the choke leaver on the side of the left hand carb.
When did they start fitting choke cables ?
Now one end of the cable will be at the carb end, but where dose the control leaver locate ?

I went up to my local "dealer" and asked him for 8 new piston circlips for my F2, and to help him out I gave him the year, engine number, frame number, colour, Jeepers Creepers, he didn't have a bloody clue!

He blinked at me and finally said: "Look mate, all I've got is crack cocaine, heroin and some speed. Do you want it or not????;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Have you got any more pics of your girlfriend Heffy? I showed one to my dog 3 days ago, and he hasn't stopped licking his balls! (lucky bastard!) Cheers, Terry. ;D

F1 - no choke cable only F2/3 with pupmper carbs, I'm surprised Mr P didn't pick up on that - too busy watching his dog. You know the answer......it's 'because they can!'

Colorado Powersports? Is it a big dealer? Some years ago I bought from them the shop manual for my Suzuki Marauder. Searched by "Suzuki Dealer" in google and they appeared along with some more. It was my first purchase across the pond, everything by mail and phone. How was I to know how much the dollar would devaluate? It was f434ng expensive back then!!!!
