I got the disease...
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:31:44 AM »
I'm thinking of buying my second CB! I'm going to Fargo in a week, and I saw a 77 CB550K for sale on ebay near there. REALLY thinkin about going there and checking it out! Looks to be in pretty good shape. ;D

Was '77 a good year?  Any thoughts on this one?

That was the first bike I ever owned. Had a 750 seat and a 400 tank on it. Man I loved that bike, light and agile, perfect for city and highway. But that was about 60lbs ago :P :D
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

That is definately the best looking thing you're going to see in Fargo.

More or less last of the line with 90% of any problems sorted by Honda.
Carbs can be "finiky" and are only off 77/78

Standard exhaust are unobtainium
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Funny, but I gotta disagree. I've been going to Fargo every year for the past 8 years and there ARE some really fine looking women there, you'd be surprised. Also, the city is very well developed downtown, and is very clean and neat. Must be a lotta money floating around there these days  ;)

The more I'm lookin at this the more I want it  ;D

Since when has that stopped any of us?

Mine's been awesome since I freshened up the top end last winter. Parts weren't hard to find at all. So I'd say buy it!!

I think parts being hard to find was something that most of us found out AFTER we got our bikes!!

I was mostly complimenting the bike more than slamming Fargo but... yeah I've been to Fargo a few times. I don't remember it being a smorgasbord of babes, but if you like what they have there just keep on coming down 94 to Minneapolis. It's babe central down here!

P.S. The preceding comment is in no way related to the fact that my wife reads this forum and that I met and married her in Minneapolis. If you think she's got that gator under control you should see what she does to me when I misbehave.
