Need help boise, id. 84' cb650
« on: July 08, 2008, 01:18:34 AM »
So I got a nighthawk for free and it was a basket case. I put everything back to original so I think? The electrical stuff is killin me. The only hope I get is when I hit the start button the lights come on. Thats the extent of my power! IT does nothing else, the swithes don't do anything. I need someone in boise that can either help me or that has a similar bike so I can look at there electrical system. Thanks so much.
PS: the book doesn't help much!

hey thanks droopy! I will check and see of it works for me. the thing is the wire loom is still intact and looks unspliced, thats what my problem is. That's why I thought maybe if I looked at a stock one that I could figure it out. Maybe I will post an add in craigslist. also My bike is an 84'.  The diagram is for a 80-82. thanks though. There seems to be a limited amount of info on the nighthawks.

that was pretty funny. If only it could be that easy! With the way it is hooked up right now, you can hit the start button and no matter what you do nothing changes. The start button just lights up the dash lights even if the key is off or the kill switch is on or off! It sucks!

I'd be looking for a melt down somewhere or maybe some PO has wired power to ground and shorted wiring.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
