Stupid CB 750 clutch question
« on: July 10, 2008, 05:00:34 PM »
If the clutch lifter plate was installed crooked (meaning the bolts that you use to attach the new springs were uneven making the lifter plate skewed), what would that do to the bike?

Would it still shift as normal?  When the next cover was put on would that move everything into place?

Having never done it - and until now not even considering whether it was possible - I cannot predict what it would do. However, I seriously doubt the side cover would move everything back into place. If you took your clutch apart and it wouldn't work when you put it back together, I would be inclined to do it again.

One of the ears of the lifter plate will crack (off) forcing the plates together.  or against the clutch inner or outer drum.  It will lock up the clutch lever so you won't be able to engage/disengage the clutch.

Ok.  Now that I have more time and my space back, I will go back in and straighten that out.

Do you think I could reuse the gasket, seeing as it has only been about a month?

Probably reusable, if you oiled it first.  But I wouldn't count on it otherwise.
