I know this is an old post, but what did Jim do to fix the broken post.  I am in the same situation and am looking for a repair other that JB Weld.

He does Micro-welding. 

And he's a terrific guy to boot.  I saw him today as a matter of fact.  -Giving me a drag bike frame and discussing the big bore engine I'm buying from him that he's going to help me build also.

Here ya go for some of the guys that haven't seen Micro Laser welding before

Basically I use a .010 4043 aluminum filler rod. Look threw a micro scope,
put the filler rod between the cross hairs and shoot. Its very precise and accurate with little
or no heat build up depending on how much I have to weld

Wow, pretty impressive work.  I didn't even know it was possible to weld on such a small scale.

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
