72 cl350 in a '63 ca77
« on: July 11, 2008, 07:22:38 AM »
does anyone know if a cl350 twin will fit into a 1963 honda dream 305 ca77?
I thought I saw this somewhere but I can not find the pics.

I have an extra engine and a titled ca77 is this worth the time?

like always any info is helpful

I seriously doubt it.
The Dreams (and Superhawks) used the 305 engine itself as a frame member, can't see how you could possibly get around that without major mods to LOTS of stuff.

The 305 scrambler (CL72/77) had a conventional type frame, it may be possible on those.

A titled CA is an "item", but only with a 305 engine.

I know the 350 mounts low down in the front and low on the back of the motor, too.
Doubt if it would work on a superhawk frame--Wouldn't work easily, anyway.
I once mounted a 350 in a frame of my own design.

I wouldn't think of doing a CA that way, but here are a couple of Super Hawks with 350 & 400 Fours in them. Keep in mind that the Super Hawks have a Tubular frame vs the CA's Pressed steel frame.

I clearly understand why you just had to ask the question. When you get hold of part of a bike that has a title, you just want to build something with it.   I've kinda got a similar situation, but with some (even though slim) possibilities. Mine doesn't have a title though. I have an 85' RZ350 "Roller" (no engine or components) that I'd like to build something out of. Probably the smartest thing to do would be to sell it, but I'd really like to try to build something out of it.

If you are going to sell it, folks over on honda305.com might be interested. In fact Kevin (hahnda) might be able to help you, he's got some of those himself.
