Speedo Graphics
« on: July 11, 2008, 06:06:41 AM »
My speedometer and tach faces are shot.  And, the little screws holding the speedometer face have vibrated out necessesitating a rework.  I've got them apart (thanks to detailed instructions gathered here) and have designed some faces.  I've kind of made up my mind but thought I could get some opinions here...not that anybody on this board is opinionated.  Take a look and post your votes.  A friend helped with the graphics and added the "Pells Racing" thing on his own...this is not a race bike and I don't race-so that's going away.

The idea is to continue my tank graphics through the gauge faces. The tach face will have the checks on the left.

I like the idea, i prefer the one with the silhouette of the woman on it.
but i think the honda touch in the same spot would look good too.
e.g.

and reversed for the tach

love the concept , if it were me i'd go with the one on the top right , like you said the others are a little busy , and the green accents kinda look out of place

Took me a while to realize what I was looking at there, but that is definitely a really cool touch!

If I were you, I'd stick it to two colors only and leave the cliche girl picture out - or replace it with troppo's Honda babe there. Looks a bit hard to read at high speeds, though, where is the 100 pointing to? Oh well, the sacrifices we make in order to look #$%*in'.  8)

I'll be really honest with you and say that I don't think that you should continue the tank's graphics on the gauges. It just won't look good.

I would stick to a very simple white and black design with no pictures or writing.

I think the checkered tank theme might work with the tach done also, completing the effect.

My taste leans toward the simple, so I'd leave out the girl(too cliche) and stick to just black and white(adding the colors takes away from b&w's classic appeal), though I do think troppo's take on it is pretty cool.

If the checkers didn't look just perfect, I'd go with a simple black or white like ieism said.
