74' to 76' bits at a time
« on: July 11, 2008, 10:47:38 AM »
Hey all,

I'm currently riding my 76' daily and don't want to be without it should I start a project that i can't finish over a weekend.  Soo..  I've got a 74' 750 that's torn down to the frame (the eventual cafe' project) and i might want to start fixing up parts off of it and transfering to the 76'.  Starting with things like the front end, polishing, replacing seals. powder coating etc. get everything ready then swap.  My actual question is what changes (primarly body & suspension) do I need to watchout for?  Is this a stupid idea or are the differences too few to matter.

Im not sure the answer to your questions but what I have been doing is going to bikebandit.com, pulling up my 74 cb750 k4, opening a new tab and pulling up a 75 cb750 k5. With the two pages open I go back and forth, cross referencing part numbers. Most of the parts I have searched have been the same. You can also do this for different size cb's.
Hope this helps

Yeah, I've been doing the same, can be a bit tidious.  74-76 dont seem to be too fundementally different accept for superficial things like the huge blinkers/winkers etc.  let me know if you find anything major and i'll do the same.

much thanks, tim

Pretty much the same bike.  You should be fine with polishing and swapping the forks, clutch cover, painting and swamping fenders, side covers, tank, etc.
