Goodbye old friend...Enjoy the roads up there in heaven...
« on: July 09, 2008, 03:58:24 PM »
I got some news i was not ready for this morning....An old friend of mine passed away friday evening after a short battle with cancer. This man was like a second father to me. He taught me about 90% of what i know when it comes to motorcycles. He was also the one who got me into the classic bike hobby with me being around his large collection of Jawa and CZ Motorcycles. He was also the one i bought my CB750K4 from. All i have of that bke now is the engine. For that i feel ashamed because he had faith in me getting that old bike back on the street. Right now im finding it extremely difficult to think straight...well without crying that is....

Carver was also a very close friend to my father. Because of this i plan on taking my CB750 engine and either mating it to a CB750 chassis or building the Legion chopper chassis and building the bike in memory of my father and Carver...

Both of you are dearly missed... :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I plan on it...Because of both of them im the person i am today..if it wasnt for my father getting me into bikes and carver getting me into classic bikes specifically i wouldnt be involved in this hobby..

Chris, As you know, it never comes easy. When we lose someone  like that, it takes some time to get over it (and sometimes we never do completely). Building a Tribute to them would be a great thing to do. Like eldar said, "You hang in there and hold onto those memories". And remember, those memories are your way to feel like they are with you.    I have those feelings about my Granddad also, he and my Dad are the ones who gave me my feelings for motorcycles and being a mechanic too! I just wish I was as talented. You take care and weather the storm my friend. There will be brighter days. ;)

Carver was only a year older than I am. Far too young to go. I am sorry for your loss. As you get older and lose more good people these words from the Beatles take on more meaning.

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed,
Some forever, not for better,
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments,
With lovers and friends I still can recall,
Some are dead and some are living,
In my life I've loved them all.
Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Thank you for your words guys...The past few hours have been kinda rough...its hard not to think about it and focus on the good...The last time i even felt anything close to this was the night my Father passed away...Whats worse is that night i almost hurt someone else with my anger at the situation...Just the way i was told i was ready to just level the guy with an uppercut....

Conversation went like this...

Hello my name is...
Your father passed away this evening...

I was completely speechless at that approach..it was just like some stranger from the street who knew nothing about me walked up and told me...wasnt an EMT or a Police officer..just someone with the rescue squad...Unfortunitly i had a verrrry short fuse at school the next day....Two people learned to stay clear of me pretty quickly...one was a classmate who had said something about my dad a couple days before he passed away...i tore a small strip out of him about the way he did things..and the other was my shop teacher...he got on my case about not working hard on my project at the time...i set my tools and project down walked over to him and looked him straight in the eyes not caring about the fact he actually had authority and spoke to him point blank...if i remember right the words were something like this...."Im sorry im not working to your so called specs today...My father passed away last night and im not exactly in the best of mindsets..." followed that with walking away calmly...my teacher looked like he just got a hard right hook and was just realising he should have fallen....a few of my teachers were prewarned by my mom before i got there..but he didnt get that chance..he took the brunt of my rage in one shot...

... having known such great men has surely been a blessing for you.

When I lost my grandmother, literally a second mother and a big part of all that's good in me, I thanked God I had her in my life at all. That blessing balances out all crap life has thrown at me thus far.

I have no doubt you will honor those remarkable men as you live your life. They loved you so that alone is high praise, no?

Can't wait to see your labor of love 750.

God Bless.

Something that was mentioned yesterday....a friend of his had a twin bike to his that he sold to him years ago. This friend was on a road trip on the bike on the day he passed away and the odometer stopped working at one point in the evening...almost as if the guage stopped reading the moment he was gone from this world..

Spike and i are going to attempt to aquire the bike he rode..it is a Jawa 350 TS...if i remember the model number right 639. The goal of course would be to preserve this bike in his memory...He taught spike a lot of what he knows as well..

Well if your going to do that, maybe a memorial plaque on the front guard or something similar would be a nice memorial to him. And remember he rode the bike, dont make it a trailer queen, the soul needs to be worked to stay alive.
Sounds to me you have some great plans already, good luck mate, i hope this works just right for you.

If we got ahold of his old 350..it will see some road use still...only time it would be on a trailer is if its going to a show with other bikes such as  Project Shadow or Project Mutant...

Chris, I don't figure that you are gonna get any flack from anyone here, about that. And, IF you did, they wouldn't be worth listening to! I, for one (and you as well) should know that, if you need to unload, or just talk, you have every right to do it here. ;) Besides, this IS your thread.

Sorry for you loss.  I recently learned a friend of mine committed suicide in February, so I've been wrestling with losing a friend too.  My take on losing someone is to remember the good times and honor their memory by trying my best to be honorable with the way I live my life.

I'm sure he'll be smiling down on you as your life unfolds.
