The seal on my gear shifter is leaking oil, has anyone changed this seal and how difficult will it be? 1975 cb550

Clean up the area well. It is easier to remove the shiftershaft first, which means removing the clutch. Just check that the shaft isn't damaged around the seal contact spot.

I've done it but when assembling the motor which makes it pretty straight forward, so I can't comment on difficulty.

Like bwaller said, before sliding the new seal in check damage to the shaft that could nick the seal when going over it.
