Quick (maybe silly) Connecting Rod Question
« on: July 11, 2008, 09:17:27 AM »
When I removed my con rods, I noted them as 1,2,3 and 4, but I didn't note which way they were installed.  They are each marked with the clearance letter on one side and the weight number on the other.  Does it matter which side faces forward?

Aaaackkk, I went through this last year but forgot which way they face. Believe it makes a difference so wait for the answer. If nobody comes up with it I'll be back Monday with it. Should be a pic somewhere of someone showing their crank with rods installed, looked for mine but couldn't find it(damn search function :P ).
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

parts seat and develope a memory, take an old tyre off your car. turn it around and re-fit it, it wont last. Metal is the same but harder lol

So if I was replacing the bearings and piston pins it wouldn't matter?

Normally the bearing tangs should face the exhaust side (Front)

Yes. It is about the bearing tangs.
