I think the guy got a great deal provided they are in decent shape. Thats less than half price especially with a set of $150 K & N filters! Try pricing these out new.

Sure wish I could decrypt the way EBay scrambles the bidder. I don't think it's consistent considering now that I know your bid and my previous bids on other stuff. I like to know who I'm playing against.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Yep, that's exactly the point.... sounds like ebay found a way to undo all those automatic bidders by creating it's own auto-bid system. not fun.

I didnt need the K&N's so didnt quite want to pay for that + used carbs are used carbs, found it hard to go over 400 for an unkown set when I've seen new sets for 700$ or so.

There's always next time!

I paid $600 for a never used set with K&N's. New they are $800 plus filters. The filters are expensive and you have to pay attention to which manifolds they come with. They just screw in and if you need new ones they may be expensive. Also a set jetted for another bike might mean you have to pay another $100 or so for jets, needles, slides etc,...

I'm guessing that GPZ set would need another $150-200 spent on manifolds and jetting to work on a CB??

The nice thing is that they have adjustable spacing to fit any bike unlike the mikuni smoothbores.

I've been looking for the older style CR's but I hear they don't have idle circuits??

The cheaper option would be old CB750 carbs or if you want to make new manifolds, some 28mm mikunis off a Z1 or GS1000, I ran these on my old racer. Expect to spend lots of time jetting for such a different application.

Well, I was willing to go to $425.  Sorry for the out bid.  I checked around here for a watching this and didn't see anything posted calling dibs.  They looked super clean, with pods and looks like custom manifolds with sync ports in them.  Figured they were a good buy.

Gee... 25$

Well.... next time I miss the podium in a race you can take the blame!

I also figured out like kayaker that they would need more money thrown in to set up. those maniflds looked indeed too long for my 500.

Good luck with them and if you get tired from sorting them out in a street bike, make sure to PM me....

What bike are you fitting those to?

Cheers

The manifolds definitely look long, we'll see what becomes of them.  These are intended for my 78 CB750.  Fortunately I have time on my hands.  I am building up the motor this winter and these were on the list of items to get.  This spring I stripped the bike down and lightened it up a lot.  Just got it riding again last week.

As far as you not placing this season, well sorry to let you down but if the $25 will guarantee you to podium, let me know maybe we can work something out  :D

well I'm not really a fan of sniping the bids.  I bid on it when I found them and yeah, my budget was 425 no more.  Every one has their style I just know I can only afford so much and this time it was that.

For me my 400 would probably be  like 418.98 or some odd amount, just in case..
It sucks to lose to a 401.00 or similar..

A lot of bidders will never bid a round number..

So, a lot of bidders do this, the next problem you have is the others that think the same.. so 406.98 .. wont usually work well..

Tinyrobot.

I may be willing to swap you some manifolds for a CB750? If interested, get some measurements off yours and let me know. I need the OD, ID and length. I can shorten them if the diameters work out for me??
