81 cb650 manual online and quick question?
« on: July 15, 2008, 08:30:01 AM »
the one on the homepage tripod link is the 1980 cb650 w/ non-cv carbs... the bike that i'm working on (81 650) has constant velocity carbs... are the carbs the only difference and should i stop being picky about manuals or is there a link around somewhere for the proper manual?

thanks in advance.

by the way... i'm going into the engine, not the carbs.

Except the flanges for carbs on the head. The CV has them at sligthly different angle, I believe.
Apart of that - they are the same.

Didn't know about the carb flange difference, thought the CV carbs were the only change.
Will remember that if I ever redo my bike with CV carbs, I'm betting the old mechanical carbs would fit either.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Fit?  How much work you want to do??  No, believe it or not, Honda changed the head casting when they went to CVs.  Port spacing is different pre and post CV!
