Errm, I'm not sure about "electronic" ones, but I assume the CB650 has something similar - the black pickup box with an iron spot.
So, yes, I had one of the pickups blown, and I never even tried to check the ohms - I simply put the probes on the continuity mode to the cables, and tapped the iron spot with the screwrdiver. And that showed me that one was broken. I could/couldn't see an impulse. It got promptly replaced with one from some Kawasaki off-roader, and is working ever since. Of course positioning is crucial, for ignition timing.
It was easy....
