Longshot: Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival Oct 16-19
« on: July 21, 2008, 08:21:19 am »
Anybody plann on going to the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival in October ?  http://barbervintagefestival.org/
I'm in North Texas (Denton - just north of Dallas)  and I'm planning on going out this year.  I want to bring my bike, but the wife will be joining me
so riding out there isn't an option.

I was wondering if anyone is driving out that way that would come through or close to North Texas...  I have a nice flat bed that could easily hold
some bikes if some of you guys want to work out some kind of travel deals....My truck is a king cab, but only really seats about 3 with any comfort.

Or maybe pay someone to transport mine....  With gas prices these days, I'm just trying to work out some options

Just trying to get on this sooner rather than later.  Should be a great event.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Greenjeans,  I'll be there, but am already in Birmingham.  The Dixie Classic Bike Club has slots A6-12 in the swap meet area, I'll be hanging out there.  Hope to see you.

I'll definitely be there, just trying to figure a way to get my bike out there...nothing worse than being surrounded by beautiful bikes
with nothing to ride.

I'm going as are many of our VJMC guys. I promised the same last year and got sent to Hong Kong 3 days before I was supposed to leave for Barbers.

I'm going this year with a trailer load of bikes for the vintage show on the lawn.

It is an awesome place - inside and out.

The only problem for me was I never saw any publication or posting of the winners.  I will see you there again this year, John.

I ran it past the better half today and I think we may work towards getting there this year too. I can't take enough time to ride down and back so just being there will be fine enough!
Anything a newby visitor should know to prepare?

Get a motel room NOW.  Nothing can prepare you for how cool Barber is.  Take a hat.  The sun can be pretty brutal.

I've raced there for the last three years.  AWESOME track.  And the rest of the place is pretty nice too.

I'm taking most of this year off from racing but I might go to Barber, either with the race bike or I might ride down and be a spectator.  I'll have to see how things work out at the job.

OK, who is going this year?  Greg, Ohio Cafe Racer, and two other buddies are racing this year, Beli and I are coming along as support and to pick through the swap meet.  Would love to meet up with some fellow SOHC4 members from the south.  We will be at the track Thursday afternoon through Sunday...
