While test riding my 77 400F for an oil light that came on at low revs issue, the bike died on me and the wife had to throw a 2x10 in the back of the truck and come get me. As I'm waiting for her in the parking lot, a guy walked up and said "what a cool bike, do you like it" I replied that I loved it until about 5 minutes ago.
First off, I don't believe an oil light coming on with possibly low pressure can cause the bike to die and not start. After I got it home, it started up right away the next day. Am I right on this?
I'm thinking possibly an ignition coil going bad as this same thing happened to me before on my 750. I couldn't figure it out until one day it left me stranded for good and had no spark the next day.
Is this a symptom of ignition coils going bad? I don't have a problem spending some $$ to get new ones if for nothing else the peace of mind. I got a good deal on the bike and have not had to put too much in it so far other than my time.
Thanks,
Walt
