« on: July 20, 2008, 11:58:46 PM »

A 400 tank will fit on a 750 IF you clearance the bottom for the carbs - it will probably work on a 550 with similar modifications.

If you didn't weld it, you'd have problems keeping fuel in it.  ;D ;D ;D

Speaking of fuel, you want to remove all traces of fuel before cutting or welding or you could have a really bad day.

Interesting modification to make it fit.  Although it looks like you now have trapped fuel in the back of the tank that cannot reach the petcock.  How much does this cut down tank capacity?

No idea... stock 400 tank is ~3.5 gallons.  My guess is not enough to worry about :)

Is the front wide enough? I tried sliding a 76 400 tank on my 72 500 and the tank looked too narrow in the front to fit over the frame. I was rushing though...
