Are CB750 F2 fork tubes interchangeable with K3-K8 tubes?
« on: August 20, 2015, 12:48:13 PM »
I'm looking to pick up a set of +2 fork tubes for my F2 from CycleX. Is there a difference between K and F fork tubes or are they interchangeable?

they are interchangeable, with the stock length of the f2s being longer than the earlier ks,so 2'' over on the earlier forks may be diff than 2'' on the later forks, check before buying.bill

I know the lowers on the F forks are longer. I'm not sure of the tubes. I'm running my stock 750 K5 lowers on tubes from a 750 Auto (I think 78'). I sold the stock K5 tubes a long time ago due to the under the ear rust but I still have the lowers from both sets and the autos are longer. I'm pretty sure the F's are the same as the autos. Anyone know otherwise?

I'm not sure about the autos but I've been looking into this myself for my k6 because I want dual discs with modernish brakes and want to keep my excell rims.
I found a link on dtt where it appears I can run the f2 fork lowers, my spoke front rim and cb550 rotors to match the offset of k bikes and the diameter of the f2 rotors. Then I picked up dohc two pot calipers that are a direct fit for f2 lowers with the dohc hanger. Just have not fit it myself to be sure.

I'm also converting my rotors over to 550's so I can mount Henry Abe 6-hole rims.

The internals were different from my K2 to K4, I was going put the K4 tubes on the K2, turns out the K2 had the tubes with the small holes and the clip grooves, the K4 had the wide shallow grooves, so then I was going to just swap the sliders, but the caliper mounts were different and the fender is different, so I just bought new tubes instead.

I know that K0-K2 are different from K3-K8. I want to know if the F2's are interchangeable with the K3-K8's.
