CB500: Automatic Chain Oiler?
« on: July 25, 2008, 01:06:36 PM »
Does a '71 CB500 have an auto oiler?  I took the cover off but didn't see anything that looked like and oiler or oiler adjustment.

If it doesn't, the oil must be coming from the shifter fork seal.  What's involved in replacing one of those?

Well I suppose if your shifter seal is leaky enough it could constitute an auto-oiler but the 500 didn't come stock with one... =)

It's a simple matter to replace the shifter seal. Western Hills Honda, David Silver, et al stock them for pretty cheap.

I'd say it's leaky enough.  The left side of the rear rim is covered!  Oh well, it's due for another cleaning anyway.
