Correct Dyna Coil for CB350F w/ stock points
« on: November 14, 2008, 10:41:56 AM »
I have a 1973 CB350F running the original coils and points ignition.  If I want to replace the coils with Dynas shown on the Z1 website, what should I get?  From the Z1 site I am infering that the 1.5 ohm coils are appropriate.

OR -  if I am going to upgrade to their electronic ignition at some point, can I run the 2.2 or 3.0 now with my points?

The site says "Never select a coil with a lower resistance than your ignition system - this will cause the coils to overheat and burn out... It is OK to select coils with a slightly higher resistance."  I need a little more guidance...

I do believe stock is 5 ohm.
3 ohm will really tax the little 350's charging system.
1.5 would be terrible.

Stick with stock on the 350f, because the charging system is already weak. Going lower ohms just taxes it more.
No.

If I were you I would try to get the Dyna S ignition.  Electronic Ignition is way better than those points and requires almost no maintenance.

Hondaman's transitorized ignitions have some pluses over the Dyna S.
